Aims: ·To gain an understanding and appreciation of the long and varied history at Toorak College and how it shapes you as a person. ·To encourage Year 7 students to use previous generations of Toorak College Old Girls as a valuable historical resource. ·To appreciate cross generational interaction. ·To transfer the recording of history into an appropriate electronic format. ·To develop inquiry, interviewing and communication skills.
Project Outcomes
By the end of the project, you will have achieved the following: -Working as part of a team to pursue an area of interest for a particular decade in Toorak College’s history. -Applying research and higher order thinking skills such as critical thinking. -Effectively used primary and secondary resources. -Understand the nature of the school archives and learn how to carefully access and use the resources found in this location. -Producing a digital historical record to be presented to the Old Girls’ which informs the community about a particular decade of Toorak College’s history. -Completing a review and evaluation of your group’s research steps.
